Post-Doctoral Research Associate

We are looking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated research associate (RA) to join the laboratory of Marilena Crescente for 18 months to investigate the influence of platelet-derived eicosanoids on host immune response to fungal infections. This research aligns with the Microbiology, Cardiovascular Science and Ageing and Lifelong Health Research Themes in the Centre for Bioscience at Manchester Metropolitan University. The project will use a novel approach to bring together platelet and neutrophil biology with lipidomic and bioinformatic analyses to identify mechanisms underlying antifungal immunity and new therapies to treat bloodstream fungal infections. The successful candidate will be expected to work with platelet/neutrophil/endothelial biologists and microbiologists within the Centre for Bioscience, or collaborators at the Blizard Institute at Queen Mary University of London and the Centre for Molecular and Vascular Biology at Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven.

For an informal discussion regarding the requirements of the post, please contact Dr Marilena Crescente (m.crescente@mmu.ac.uk).
