World Thrombosis Day

Tuesday 13th October saw the Platelet Society joining with researchers, clinicians and patients from across the world to recognise World Thrombosis Day

Marking the anniversary of the birth of Rudolph Virchow, one of the founders of the study of thrombosis, World Thrombosis Day aims to raise awareness of this important disease and to highlight the important work being done to understand , treat and prevent it.

Members of the Platelet Society are actively involved in understanding the roles of platelets in thrombosis and in developing novel ways to manage and treat it. Furthermore, we undertake education and outreach activities to engage with members of the public to highlight the important work we do and to educate on risk factors for the disease.
