Platelet Society Summer Studentship 2025

This year, the Society awarded three summer studentships

Evelyn Cannon worked with Professor Mike Emerson at Imperial College London on a project investigating the role of Oestrogen in modulating platelet function in women with HIV.  You can read about Evelyns project in her report available here.

Dylon Gunton worked with Dr Valentina Shpakova at the University of Reading on a project that aimed to phenotype human platelets using spectral flow cytometry and study the role of ion channels in formation of platelet sub-populations. Dylans report on his project can be seen here.

Thomas Wilfred worked with Dr Alan Harper at Keele University on a project characterising the role of TMEM165 in the control of human platelet activation. Further details on Wilfreds project can be seen here.

We thank all the supervisors for their time in applying for the studentships and providing this opportunity over the summer months. We hope the students enjoyed their experience and have taken their first steps on the platelet journey!
