The Gustav Born Award recognises investigators who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to research in the fields of platelets, megakaryocytes, thrombosis and haemostasis over the course of their careers.

Through a distinguished academic career spanning more than 40 years, Stan has advanced understanding of platelet biology and its role in cardiovascular disease and thrombosis. He has also championed the translation of platelet research into practice through Platelet Solutions Ltd, developing tools for platelet function testing.  Equally important has been his contribution to establishing and nurturing the UK platelet research community. As the founding Editor-in-Chief of Platelets, he helped establish the journal as a leading international forum for platelet and megakaryocyte research, and his mentorship of numerous trainees and investigators, has helped shape generations of scientists working in the field.

 Stan will give his award talk at the Platelet Society meeting in Reading in September 2026.
