There is a post available in our Biological and Biomedical Sciences team from July 2021.
As Lecturer (Academic) in Biomedical Science, you will support teaching and research. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will supervise students from first year to PhD level. You will also make significant contributions to employability, and professional engagement with internal and external organisations, at regional, national and international levels.
You will contribute to undergraduate programmes Biomedical, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Foundation Year in Science. Strong research and pedagogic focus in subjects related to biological sciences is essential. Applicants should demonstrate a wide range of knowledge and ability to work in laboratories in a research or teaching capacity. Experience of a range of techniques relevant to biomedical sciences and ability to teach topics including biochemistry, physiology, immunology, pathophysiology, cell biology and molecular biology would be highly advantageous.
Your teaching will include a range of relevant techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy (fluorescence, confocal, EM), Western blotting, PCR and blood analysis. Experience of these techniques, particularly in a clinical setting, will be highly advantageous. We are interested in applicants with specialism in fields such as genetics, physiology, modelling disease, immunology, biochemistry, toxicology. Candidates with clinically-aligned interests will be especially favoured.
